Found and Followed: The Bright Ideas of Will It Lamp?
In this edition of Found and Followed, we’re highlighting Clay Mohrman and Rory Shamlian, the Vermont-based duo behind Will It Lamp?.
Clay (a sculptural woodworker) and Rory (a ceramic lighting pro) have been proving since 2024 that with the right technical eye, thrift store cast-offs can be transformed into high-end design. They’ve built a massive following by combining their expertise in wiring and fabrication with a genuine curiosity for overlooked objects.
The Sconce & Silhouette:
We’re obsessed with their wall sconce project—taking a beautiful patterned plate and pairing it with a large, statement bulb. It’s a perfect example of how a simple find can be re-engineered into something sophisticated.
They also have a knack for finding the right proportions, like their short, stout ceramic lamp that boasts one of the best silhouettes we’ve seen. It’s grounded, bold, and completely transforms the energy of a room.
They're All-In
Beyond the technical skills, it’s clear these two are having a blast. Their energy is infectious, and let’s face it—any upcycling project this well-executed is worth its weight in gold.
